VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Entitlement to attend university and emphasis on practical training
Our vocational high school is built on a three-year programme (grades 11-13). It is founded on the knowledge, skills, and qualifications acquired up to the tenth grade. The curriculum includes general education and vocational training, the foundation of a job training in a field selected. The emphasis is on the fields of economics and information technology (IT)
Subjects of instruction, grade 11 (introductory or compensation level)
Grade 11 acts as a bridge between the schools the pupils come from and the qualification level and is meant to close gaps in students` performance. All students are required to take German, English, and Mathematics, four lesson-hours per week each.
Grade 12/13 (qualification level)
The student selects two subjects as advanced studies, German, English, or Mathematics as first achievement or advanced course.
The first advanced subject is taught six lesson-hours per week. All other subjects are taught in two- or three hour basic courses. The second advanced course is either economics or IT which are taught four lesson-hours per week.
Included in the curriculum, additional projects and courses are offered regularly, as we emphasize on practical experiences qualifying our students to get an insight into scientific, social, and technological fields.
Those projects include: workshops on all fields of economy such as marketing, stock market, economy, electronic media, etc. Excursions to firms, high schools and other places of interest are regularly included in daily school life.
Languages
Regulations are in accordance to the State of Hesse Ministry of Education and Culture. All students are required to take English as first foreign language.
The second language is French. Students who have not completed their second language with grade 10 are required to take French from grade 11 to 13 in our school.
Qualifications and exams
Qualification level concludes with the final exam (Abitur)
Comparable to Britain`s A-levels it is the university entrance qualification and entitles students to further education on the level of every university or university of applied sciences in Germany. Our special school education usually entitles our students to complete their apprentice training in the field of economy or administration in a shortened time. Should you require further information please contact our school secretary on telephone/e-mail. Our head of department, StD Günter Kaufmann will gladly assist students and parents seeking for information more detailed.
